Make that 4!

Hello from Antipolo City! It's a  warm 90 degrees Fahrenheit, with relative humidity at 80% - it is seasonably warm and humid. As they say here, it's more FUN in the Philippines!

Many things have transpired since we last posted, and in this day of being so electronically connected one forgets that not everyone is actually reliant on social media networking to stay in touch with family and friends.

We're 4 months into 2013: how does one summarize or create a timeline of past events, goings-on, and upcoming plans? I think I'll work my way back and see how this goes.

In case anyone missed it, there are now 4 Silvas in town! Anthony arrived March 26th and will be staying with us until after June. We've got him slated to volunteer with some local missions here. It's nice to have him here for a few months.

Smiles as big as Texas!

This means, of course, Alyssa is 'home alone' in Texas - of course, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are nearby so she's always close to family. She continues to enjoy her work, and her artistic talent - painting shoes - gets better each time she shows a finished product!

Made-to-order, one-of-a-kind works of art by Alyssa!

March and Spring Break meant Baguio City, the City of Pines, cooler temperatures - this was a welcome respite from the warm Manila breeze. Marsha, Addison and I rode a public bus up the winding roads, enjoyed a few days of pleasant weather, and toured sites that I have not seen since 1978! Things have changed so much, obviously.

Still, it was quite refreshing to be walking around some familiar places.

February marked one year since we 'officially' moved from Keller, TX to Antipolo City, Rizal - from the USA to the Philippines! It has been quite a journey, a year of growing, a year of change. I do think about the experiences we've had in the past year and several months, the life changes - an upheaval, definitely. Yet, God is always present in our lives, continuing to mold us, continuing to smooth our rough edges. There are daily struggles, of course; wondering if we're doing what God has directed us to do.

2013 Started out with a BANG! It was quite breathtaking (and smoky) to see the whole Metro Manila skyline lit up with all sorts of fireworks shows to ring in the New Year. We had a very good vantage point - the hills of Antipolo City!

So, fast-forward to April!

Addison's well into his 4th quarter of 7th grade at Faith Academy. He's still very much the trombone player, and also participated in his school's Academic Bowl team. Please pray that he and all his schoolmates finish strong! Also, please pray for God's provision for the staffing needs of the school for he upcoming school year. Go Vanguards!

Marsha continues to feed and care for the 3 Silva men! She's adjusting the budget and grocery shopping to account for another hungry, growing boy. She still volunteers as a substitute teacher, and is also leading a volleyball club for the middle school girls. She's a great teacher.

As another school year comes to a close, we look forward to a summer break, and a time of reflection on the past year. We will spend some time working on partnership development, enjoy some family time, and continue to work for God's glory. Please continue to pray for our family, that we remain faithful in discerning God's will and His plan for us as we serve Him.

To God be the Glory!
